After 4 years on deciding how to go about restoring the Sign of the Kiwi, the heritage society contacted Patrick because of his skillbase in framing, and sculpture. The piece is a complete steel structure enveloped within the wood carving to comply with earthquake regulations. The piece took 3 months to carve, with the whole process taking approx a year with reports, getting the tick from the society and studio visits.
